Legislation: is a hood cover mandatory?

If you are required to drive with a hood cover, this will be stated in the registration/vehicle certificate of your Mercedes-Benz. This mainly applies to convertibles where the opened roof protrudes above the bodywork, such as a classic Volkswagen Beetle Convertible.

Maintenance & usage tips

• Never store a Sonnenland A5.3M hood cover when wet. Always let it dry completely first to prevent discoloration and mold.
• Always clean the convertible roof and hood cover in the shade, not in direct sunlight.
• Clean the entire roof. Cleaning only part of it may cause local discoloration.
• Wet the hood cover before cleaning it.
• Use a sponge or soft brush. A cloth may leave fibers behind.
• After cleaning: mount the hood cover on the car and let it dry in place. This helps the cover retain its correct shape and fit.

PLEASE NOTE: snap fasteners are supplied loose

The snap fasteners must be installed on your Mercedes-Benz to ensure a perfect fit. Positions may vary per model and model year and are regularly adjusted by manufacturers. Correctly placed fasteners ensure the hood cover fits tightly and stays securely in place. It is best to copy the positions from your old cover.

For the best and safest result, we recommend having the installation carried out by an automotive upholsterer. They have the proper tools and will place the fasteners exactly in the right position. This prevents wear on your Mercedes-Benz G-Class hood cover and possible damage from an ill-fitting cover.
